At the May 15, 2017 board meeting Jeff moved to have the appointment of a board members voted on under new business. Eric ruled this out of order after he asked Ana Londono to run and said he would support her. I believe this was a ruse and he would never support Ana but wished to have Jim Shulman on the board by any means. He started to plot with Jim and others.
Eric scheduled a board meeting for May 22, 2017. He sent out a letter to the owners asking for candidates. 5 people put in there request to be considered and included there resume. Jim Shulman was not one of them.
So I and Jon and Jeff and Nancy went to the meeting. You go to a meeting with the expectation that the individuals on the board will act in an ethical way. This was not to be the case, unfortunately. The people were put into nomination and Eric asked if there were any more names. Doug Dresser put in Jim Shulman's name. Eric called for the vote. I, Jon, Jeff and Nancy vote for Ana. Doug, Eric, Mel and Richard voted for Jim. No one received a majority. But wait. Instead of there being a discussion on a compromise Eric sprung his trap that he had been planning and conspiring for many weeks or longer. He claimed that Nancy and Jeff were disqualified. Announced the result of the vote to be 4 to 2 and that Jim was now on the board and closed the meeting and ran from the room.
So can he do this. At this writting I can not answer this but this will be clearer soon. A letter has been sent to eric that we will be disputing the meeting on many grounds.
Eric used his position as president against the board and fair play. He has access to the Chalfonte attorney, a close friend of Jim who I have made many complains against. He kept what he intended to do from Nancy, our Secretary. He prevented the vote at the May 15, board meeting.
So why would Eric act this way and have Richard and Mel and Doug follow.
Jim has been promoting for many years that only he can run the Chalfomte. He is indispensable. Well Gerry was doing a great job and put a lie to this. He was fair, accomplished in the world in many areas and a honor to work with. Most important he put the owners first and was honorable. Let me say that again. He was honorable. This wold never have happened under Gerry. A great change from Jim. After Gerry's unfortunate passing Eric took over. He was not up to the job. In the few weeks he was acting president the board got divided and stopped functioning which was apparent to all, including Eric. But he blamed others for his failings. He said and probably believes Jim's story. He would not acknowledge that Jon is willing to be president and would do a great job for the owners. So he bowed to dishonor.
It is now up to the owners to make the final decision at the next board election.
